BASICS
Players like to test their abilities to win in tournaments.
There are different types of tournament (see 2008RLAW,
#TO 08),
and different forms of winner finding (Example).
There is a new form of playing: deals are played from
both sides,
for certain forms of movement (Howell) ; see details
in "1table".
Fair tournaments follow the principles "to compare
like with like"
and " everybody against everybody all boards".
All tournaments depend on correct anotation of results,
usually done
with board-travelers ( see example
1+28, transferred to internet) .
See the view of a board when input
is done.
To do a tournament requires knowledge, material
, time and other ablities.
Up to three tables you can operate
without computer (see "1 table").
Tournaments are supported by computerprograms
and computerised instructions.
Such programms serve not only managers for performing,
but serve ordinary players
as well for control and learning.
A B O U T S C O R I N G P R O G R A M M S
There are many scoring programms in the market,
but you should distinguish:
primitve type : do winner finding and some
statistics, often DOS based;
advanced :
works on scores only, tranfers results to the internet,
window based;
progressive: utilises
all tournament data, transfers complete data-sets to the
internet, creates any movements and deals, usefull for home replay.
